C2C Section D Contract 2 Award
CCIMIC Group company CPB Contractors has been selected by the Queensland Government to deliver the Bruce Highway Upgrade – Cooroy to Curra Section D: Woondum to Curra (C2CD) – Contract 2.
Section D - Contract 2 is the final stage of the greater 62km realignment, commencing back in 2009. It’s been quite a ride since that time, both from a regulatory and compliance perspective, but also a lot of positives, including CPB being awarded the IECA Australasia Environmental Excellence Award in 2017 for their work on the previous Section C project. Lessons have been learnt at all levels including the client, who should be acknowledged for pushing best practice environmental management and providing a contract mechanism to achieve it.
Section D – Contract 2 commences at Sandy Creek Road in the south and crosses 18km of some quite challenging terrain, including local road realignments, construction of 19 bridges, series of waterway realignments and completion of the major interchange at the northern tie-in near Curra. Work on the project will commence in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in mid-2024.
